This was a photograph that I did for a commission. The final image is enormous and will live by the sea. I made this with Walter's help at Chincoteague Island on the way to Georgia. Not realising that hurricanes and craziness abounded, we stepped out of our car and nearly blew into the sea. It seemed likely that this photograph was going to be impossible, I feared my wedding dress and hoop skirt would also take flight. Walter had more confidence and began collecting stones and hiding them between the layers of fabric...
As with most of my photographs, the image came to me (in the shower, of course) and I sketched it in my journal. Then chance added its lovely effect. The dress in the sand looks so still while the other looks as fluffy and misty and wild as the sea foam.
Giclee print on Hahnemulhle german etching.
