Autumn Pouch in Scarlet
Use one for pens and pencils and small tools, another for essential oils, lip balm and other treats for the body, and if you are really thinking ahead – fill one with first aid supplies! Pouches help to organize our bags and lives into satisfying little pockets – it is hard to be without them.
If you love pouches, then you are in for a treat! This summer we found a little stack of antique German textiles that was irresistible – there were blues and reds and all manner of plaid pillow shams, duvet covers and spreads. They were used to pack antique furniture en route to America, and after transport, were sitting neatly folded, and severely neglected – until I spied them.
We’ve made some (very) small batches of zipper pouches with the antique textiles inside, and others with the textile on the outside. Another choose your own adventure! Each is paired with autumnal vintage zippers and truffle waxed canvas. We are excited to offer the first two cut from antique pillow shams!
Constructed waxed canvas originated in the sailing industry in Scotland in the 1920s and became widely used in sportswear and apparel because of its waterproofing abilities and superb durability.
- 15 oz. waxed duck canvas (19 oz. with wax) (Truffle)
- Vintage German textile lining
- Vintage zipper
- Leather brand from antique WWII gunsling
