Shanty Man Log Carrier
For the last five winters we have labored, carrying bundles of wood in our arms up our tiny spiral stairs to feed the wood stove. There has been much dirtying of shirts and scraping of arms from protruding twigs. We have finally resolved the problem and proudly present Peg and Awl’s firewood carrier, The Shanty Man, in honor of my favorite Dave Van Ronk tune.
The Shanty Man Firewood Carrier is constructed of two durable layers of waxed canvas. Using deadstock surplus WWII military gun slings for the handles and strengthened with 10 brass rivets, this carrier is built to last.
Constructed waxed canvas originated in the sailing industry in Scotland in the 1920s and became widely used in sportswear and apparel because of its waterproofing abilities and superb durability.
