The final batch of this ink is coming soon. Ink can be messy! This ink is hand bottled, labeled, and waxed. Now and again a bottle sprouts a small leak during transport. Description

This ink was handmade by alchemist Thomas Little of A Rural Pen. The ink goes on as a pale, smoky, cool grey, and quickly oxidizes into a darker colour; the shade varies depending on the paper used.

I was so enamored with the ink, and when I learned that I couldn’t purchase a bottle directly, I decided to order some for all of us! The ink is made using a historic formula of extracting and dissolving the iron from guns with Sumac, instead of Galls.

This ink is for dip pens only – it cannot be used in fountain pens.

    SO GOOD!

I can’t believe how beautifully this ink darkens on the page. The finish is gorgeous and rich. Thanks, Thomas, for making it and thanks, Margaux, for making this ink available.

    My ink is moldy!

I enjoy writing with this ink using a dip pen. Unfortunately when I went to use it today I discovered the top is covered in mold. Disappointing. The ink has been opened for about 6 months. I wonder if others have suffered a similar fate.

    Gorgeous ink

I love working with this ink. It’s smoky, atmospheric and so visually satisfying. I get a lot of pleasure using it with my mini Cloverine sketchbook to capture life’s daily moments.

    Handmade ink

I love that this ink is handmade out of guns. It has a light purplish, browny grey or black hue depending on the paper and amount of ink used. It is a nice ink. I also love the old square bottle with the wax-covered cork.
