Description

The very first do-it-yourself Peg and Awl product! In the spirit of handmade wares and near-forgotten craft, our bookbinding kit not only offers a journal to fill with words and scribblings, but also teaches the art of hand-bound bookbinding.

The style of this book was influenced by my love of Anselm Kiefer and his book Transition from Cool to Warm, a book I picked up in Brussels one fine evening many years ago. It includes beautiful uncovered books that, in addition to housing extraordinary paintings, also show – with dirt and bendy corners – all of the love and travels his books endured.

Understanding the sewing process of bookbinding is the first step in making a sound book.

Also available: 4″ Anselm Landscape Journal

    Made a mini!

Wow this was so easy to do and i've always wanted to make a book. Watching the video was very, very helpful. And after making this book, I was able to make a mini very proud of how it turned out😄

    Loved making this!!!

I replaced pages with Arches watercolor paper which made less pages and a bit bulkier. It was easy to assemble and I love the results!! I highly recommend!

    i had forgotten how good

i had forgotten how good it feels to bind a book & then how good it feels to write & draw in a journal i made myself!! so grateful also for the detailed instructions & video, everything about the process was super clear, even for someone really out of practice. i’ve used ink & watercolor on my pages, the paper handles both mediums really well. i’m super pleased & inspired to bind more…

    I have just opened it

I have just opened it and will use the wrapping and instructions as part of the journal. It comes thoughtfully packaged. I am taking Jeanne Oliver’s class @Poets and Misfits. ” I have embroidered a face that I will be using as the cover.. it seems to me that the reverse stitching side of the face is more interesting. This is where I first saw The Anselm bookbinding kit. I know I will use it and treasure it.
