For those city dwellers, travelers and others wanting more security, the Tote has a separating zipper that tucks neatly in the bag when not needed.
Waxed canvas originated in the sailing industry in Scotland in the 1920s and became widely used in sportswear and apparel because of its waterproofing abilities and superb durability.

A really well made beautiful bag. I have so many many bags, some brilliant, some poor. Then I found Peg and Awl. This tote bag and their Finch bag are amazing.
I use this tote bag as a briefcase to commute to work on the train and walk to the office. In the evenings or weekends it holds my notebooks, watercolour stuff and sketchpads. Brilliant, well thought out design. Super quality. The pictures really don’t do it justice.
The inside is very spacious, opens really wide to get things in and out. The pocket layout is just right. Some bags have so many pockets you can not find things, just the right balance here. A couple of pen pockets and a couple of larger pockets for phone, notebooks etc. I can get a water bottle or a coffee cup in the pocket. The out pocket is really useful for quick easy access. I use it mostly to carry paperwork - the design of the pocket keeps the papers flat.

Thanks to Margaux’s amazing bookbinding videos, I’ve taken up making my own journals as well as for family and friends. My new Waxed Canvas Tote is now my bookbinding bag! Great bag and great quality and durability! I’ve already taken it on a Plein Air outing with my Marlowe carryall, and my other small Peg ‘n Awl bags and it housed all of the supplies I needed nicely! I love using all of the bags, and plan on buying more soon!
