For those city dwellers, travelers and others wanting more security, the Tote has a separating zipper that tucks neatly in the bag when not needed.
Waxed canvas originated in the sailing industry in Scotland in the 1920s and became widely used in sportswear and apparel because of its waterproofing abilities and superb durability.

The owners of Peg & Awl are masters of their many crafts. They imbue everything they make deeply with the way they see the world. And I love the way they see the world ! It is such a special feeling to own their pieces, which feel like I am holding something that was made in another time, a time when we as a society deeply cared about quality over quantity of our everyday items. I own a few of their makings now but it is just not enough! I constantly scroll the pages of their website hoping I get lucky enough to score one of their ‘of a kinds’ drops. Anyways, everyone should get to experience these beautifully handmade goods and get a little piece of the way we used to do things. The way Peg & Awl does things <3

I have been looking for the 'perfect' bags for a while for me. I wanted something with character and style, durability and just enough function - not overdone with impractical features.. I work in the auto business and do not have an office, so my bag must serve as my 'office' during my long days and do provide for my varied interests. It carries several of my many journals (two Travelers - one for workday needs/scheduling, a commonplace and one passport size for lists, wallet), my eyeglass cleaning supplies, and now a couple Peg & Awl pouches (pens/pencils, washi tapes/stickers, etc.). I love that on rainy days I can zip the top shut and the zippers flaps are firm enough to stay out of the way when not needed.
I found Peg & Awl through a Peter McKinnon YouTube video only a month ago and have become a big fan. Their products are a great enhancement for my creative tactile journey.

I received a Sendak for Christmas last year, so I already knew that Peg & Awl products are really one of a kind. But this tote was really more than I was expecting. Everything is solidly constructed, the seems are perfect, and in general the bag is just the right size for what I was looking for. It comes in a million different colors. I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on it in just the first two weeks that I’ve had it.
This is the kind of tote that will last a lifetime, and I am looking forward to the patina and stories that it will develop over the years.
