Please Note

Ink can be messy! This ink is hand bottled, labeled, and waxed. Now and again a bottle sprouts a small leak during transport. We do our best to wrap them up tight to contain it. Please note when purchasing that this is possible. These ink bottles are not eligible for coupon codes or returns.

Description

This ink was handmade by alchemist Thomas Little of A Rural Pen. The ink goes on as a pale, smoky, cool grey, and quickly oxidizes into a darker colour; the shade varies depending on the paper used.

    Handmade ink

I love that this ink is handmade out of guns. It has a light purplish, browny grey or black hue depending on the paper and amount of ink used. It is a nice ink. I also love the old square bottle with the wax-covered cork.

Unique aged color worth the practice and wait

It took some practice and helpful hints from Margot but the effects and unique quality/color are worth it. If using a glass dip pen using the widest part of the pen is best, or having a wider (chipped) tip is best. I also ordered an antique dip pen with multiple wide tip nibs that lay more ink. Once the ink dries it will become darker as it oxidizes. If your cork stopper has any natural gaps or holes be careful of leakage or spill (esp during transport, or if you shake before dipping). If I pack it up to move I'll definitely put tape around the edge of the cork and Saran Wrap to keep it tight. My cork has some gaps (expected with natural cork) so better safe than sorry.

    Stunning!

This is such a beautiful bottle of ink I haven't even ventured forth and opened it yet. I know it will be incredible to use though.
